Art & Design at The Uppsala International School is all about imagination, creativity, and finding your own voice as an artist. From Year 1 to Year 13, students are encouraged to explore ideas, take risks, and express themselves in unique ways. Whether it’s painting, printmaking, model making, or experimenting with digital art, Art & Design gives every learner the chance to discover new skills, share their ideas visually, and grow in confidence as creative thinkers.
In the early years, students begin to see themselves as artists, learning how to reflect on their work, think independently, and express their ideas. Each stage builds on the last, so creativity develops step by step, with plenty of room for personal growth. Instead of focusing on exams, the emphasis is on feedback, reflection, and self-improvement—helping students to understand what works well, how to improve, and how to push their creativity further.

By the time students reach IGCSE and A-Level, Art & Design becomes a journey of deeper discovery. Learners develop advanced skills in two- and three-dimensional work, explore cultural and historical influences, and learn how to turn initial ideas into powerful final pieces. At this stage, students are not only building technical ability but also shaping their own artistic voice—learning to see the world differently, communicate through art, and prepare for creative futures in design, fine arts, or beyond.
